Whangamatā fills up fast over New Year, so book early. In-town options include motels, holiday parks, and holiday homes. If places are tight, check nearby spots like Onemana, Whiritoa, Waihi Beach, Tairua or Pauanui.

  • NOISE at a non-offending level until 9pm with shutdown of music & loud chatter at 10pm.
    New Year’s Eve 12.15am total quiet.
  • Check-in is after 11am with check out on day of departure no later than 10am.

  • You must register prior to entering the campground.

  • Your group/family must contain the entire contents of your campsite within the site allocated to you, unless other arrangements have been made with the camp Manager.
  • Water on site to be boiled prior to drinking.

  • Water on site must not be used for washing cars/boats/boat engines, or filling campervan/caravan tanks at any time.

  • There is not a dump station on site for either sewerage or grey water – with the closest being in Whangamata township.

  • Dumping of grey water or sewerage into the long drop/port-a-loo facilities or anywhere within the campground will result in the immediate removal of your group from the campground & the cost for emptying & cleaning the facility to be paid by you, along with a report to the local council who will issue an environmental fine.
  • We have a NO-VISITOR policy over your dates. Only registered campers on site.
    VEHICLES

  • No Speeding on Wentworth Valley Road or in the campground.

  • Speed limit in campground is 5kms p/h. Watch out for kids/bikes/dogs/ducks.

  • No Burnouts or revving engines.
  • No fires/charcoal BBQs at any time. Gas & butane facilities welcome.

    Complete FIRE BAN on the Coromandel.

  • NO GLASS BOTTLES (plastic and cans are welcome) Glass bottles & contents will be confiscated, and not returned & your group may be asked to leave.
  • No beer bongs/funnels

  • No illegal drugs to be brought or used in the campground or carparking areas.

  • Drug use and over intoxication will not be tolerated and will be dealt with by removing your group and processing a trespass order. If in possession of illegal substances, the police will be notified. If intoxicated at time of eviction an opportunity will be given for a taxi to be called.

  • No firearms/sling shots/weapons/fireworks allowed within the campground.
  • NO DOGS ON SITE OVER YOUR DATES
  • No Filleting, cleaning, or descaling of fish within the campground or surrounding river areas.

  • Camp site to be always kept clean and tidy. Pack out what you have packed in.

  • Recycling and general rubbish facilities will be in place from 26th December until 10th February.

  • If you are found to have thrown your rubbish in the bush, or anywhere else in the campground or surrounding areas, including along the Wentworth Valley Road, you and the group you are camping with, will be evicted from the campground immediately without refund and will not be welcome to return.

  • If you are found to have thrown any left-over food, including bones, shellfish, kina, fishbones, fish scales or fish remains into the bush or left anywhere on the property or road you will be evicted from the campground immediately without refund and will not be welcome to return.
  • Noise to be at a non-annoying level to everyone within earshot ALWAYS and must NOT contain offensive language/content.
  • No PA systems at any time.
  • 9pm-the noise from your campsite ie: music/social interaction/cars must be reduced to a level that is heard by only those within your campsite.
  • 10pm-ALL NOISE TO BE TURNED OFF. Campground is a quiet zone.

 
UPON RETURN FROM YOUR EVENT IT IS BEDTIME.
NO DRINKING/PARTYING/MUSIC.
NO CONVERSATION THAT CAN BE HEARD IN ANOTHER CAMPSITE.

If this rule cannot be adhered to your group will be asked to vacate immediately without refund.

  • No generators, Motorbikes, or small engines to be used in the campground.
  • No revving of engines or excessive vehicle noise.


OTHER

  • Any lost or stolen property should be taken up with Whangamata police as soon as possible.
  • No rocks, vegetation and animals dead or alive, are to be used by the public or removed from the area.
  • If in breach of the rules the whole group will be evicted without refund. If intoxicated at time of eviction an opportunity will be given for a taxi to be called.
  • No push bikes on walking tracks.


REFUNDS

  • There is a NO REFUND policy except under the conditions listed below:-
  • The Wentworth Campground is closed.
  • A State of Emergency has been declared by the Government.
  • Notification of the Camp closure will be posted on the Website or by contacting the office on 07 8657032.
