We’re absolutely gutted to share that Sonic Waves Festival won’t be going ahead this summer. Despite all the planning, effort, and excitement, ticket sales have been much lower than expected, and it’s just not viable for us to continue toward the December dates.
We’ve made the tough call to postpone until Easter 2026, when we’ll relaunch Sonic Waves bigger, better, and stronger than ever. This isn’t the end—just a change in timing to make sure the festival lives up to the vision we all share.
All ticket holders can get a refund via their Ticketfairy account or hold onto your ticket for the Easter event. (excludes prize winners and compilation tickets)
As outlined in our Terms & Conditions, all refunds will include a small cancellation and administration. (Ticketing Fees + a $10 admin charge). We really appreciate you’re understanding and support.

Sonic Waves is an electrifying R16 music festival nestled in the beautiful Whangāmata on the stunning Coromandel Peninsula.

Whangamatā fills up fast over New Year, so book early. In-town options include motels, holiday parks, and holiday homes. If places are tight, check nearby spots like Onemana, Whiritoa, Waihi Beach, Tairua or Pauanui. Check festival bus details to the event—keep an eye on our channels. Please respect local communities and your host’s house rules.
